Working Group 4

Working Group Leaders:

Integration and dissemination

Work description

Complex scientific questions have to be tackled in order to adapt in-situ (bio)geochemical monitoring methods for earthquake prediction in the deep-ocean. This broad topic requires a special effort to coordinate and mingle the multidisciplinary works proposed in the first 3 WGs. This "overarching" WG is responsible for identifying the links between WG1 to WG3 and develop integrated models. One of the major aim of the activities of WG4 is ultimately to build an integrated scientific topic to be proposed as an umbrella theme for future EU-scientific programs.

Because training of early research scientists (ERS) is a key element toward this goal, we will focus on supporting training curricula for young professionals and on developing appropriate dissemination strategies for the research from WGs 1-3. In order to ease communication and data exchange with partners and share information with interested scientists and target groups, the international FLOWS consortium will use an existing collaborative research environment (e.g. portal.geomar.de). Publishing this documentation after an internal and collaborative phase is valuable for the scientific community and the general public. The FLOWS wiki will enable the consortium to collect and share internal project information collaboratively, using a simple mark-up language and a web browser. Our goal is to use wiki as an integration of information management and public outreach tool. Additionally, all data acquired within the FLOWS framework will be uploaded on a well-known and widely used database (Pangea).
