Project

This Action (2013-2017) proposes to

  1. characterize fluid circulation in old oceanic lithosphere at TTPBs and its influence on fault seismic activity;
  2. describe associated methane-rich fluid seeps and quantify the impact on global heat and matter budgets between the lithosphere and the ocean reservoir;
  3. distinguish potential (bio)geochemical proxies that could be used in the future physico-chemical sensors to detect precursory seismic activity and
  4. understand how these seeps may stimulate deep microbial activity and the connectivity of chemosynthesis-based ecosystems.

To achieve these objectives, the scientific program will comprise 4 multidisciplinary Working Groups (WG).
